Rogue (2007) Review

Rogue is a 2007 Australian drama film directed by Greg McLean and starring Sam Worthington. The film tells the story of a group of tourists who get stranded in the Australian outback and are hunted by a crocodile.

The movie is intense and thrilling, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The acting is great, and the special effects are amazing. The movie is a must-see for anyone who loves a good horror movie.

Set deep in the Australian outback, a tourist boat is drawn into sacred ground when it see’s a flare being set off in the distance. Once the crew find the source of the flare things get worse as the boat is capsized by a rather big and unfriendly croc. The tourists manage to get to the safety of a local island fine, but it seems there is a snag, the tide is rising and the island will be a goner by nightfall. With the situation in hand, how will the tourists survive the dangers of the outback?

Here we have another croc movie, I honestly wasn’t expecting to like this one, but I have to say it turned out not too bad. Watching Rogue I can’t help but be reminded of a previous Australian croc movie, Black Water. There are many similarities and it makes me wonder how much you can actually do with a crocodile to be honest.

The movie manages to create suspense and dread well and has the ability to shock but it seems to be missing something important, originality. I can’t see anything that distinguishes Rogue from it’s contemporaries at all. This may be a finicky point but I thought it was worth mentioning.

The movie does have solid production however, the croc is believable, the camera work and lighting all work well and the general acting quality combine to produce a decent entertaining flick, just don’t expect too much.

In the end I could only recommend Rogue to lovers of croc movies and die hard horror fans, most peeps will have seen all of this before. Not bad but certainly not great.

In the Australian Outback, a group of tourists are attacked by a giant crocodile. With few options for help, they turn to a local hunter, Mick Taylor (Jarratt), for assistance.

Mick is a skilled tracker and knows the area well, but the crocodile is a cunning and vicious predator. As the body count rises, Mick realizes that the only way to stop the crocodile is to kill it.

With the help of a local Aboriginal tracker, he sets out to find the crocodile and put an end to its reign of terror.

Rogue is a suspenseful and terrifying thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
